Deflection 101

Service Description

This training introduces deflection as a proactive, community-based approach that connects individuals to behavioral health services at the earliest opportunity—often in lieu of arrest or without formal justice system involvement. Participants will learn how deflection serves as a prevention-focused pathway that bridges public safety and public health. The session highlights practical strategies for early engagement, reducing barriers to care, and strengthening coordination across systems. Attendees will also explore how deflection differs from traditional diversion and how it supports improved outcomes for individuals, families, and communities. 1.5 hours. Virtually or in-person.
